Bamford bag Stags' Mitch Renwick - 14/11/16

BAMFORD FIELDHOUSE have signed Central Districts' batsman Mitch Renwick for their 2017 GMCL campaign.

Renwick (23) is quite the prospect, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Blackcaps’ stars Ross Taylor, Doug Bracewell, Jesse Ryder and Adam Milne for the Central Districts Stags in New Zealand.

An accomplished batsman, who acts as Dane Cleaver’s deputy gloveman for the Stags, Renwick made his first-class debut towards the back-end of the 2015/16 season. Despite a 3-ball pair on debut against Wellington, he came back with a vengeance, hitting successive half-centuries against Auckland (71) and Northern Districts (69).

Renwick earned a CD contract for the 2016/17 and celebrated with his third first-class fifty (57) against Otago in the Plunket Shield season opener in October 2016. He is now eager to cement his spot in the Stags top-order this summer and push on to higher honours in future.

Holder of a British Passport, Renwick has also enjoyed success abroad, most notably with his third stint with Cheshire County League club Christleton (2015). Despite the club’s relegation from Division 1, Renwick was the shining light, hitting four unbeaten centuries (136*, 162*, 107*, 122*) amongst 829 runs at 92.11.

Courtesy of his run-scoring exploits, Renwick also managed an outing for Hampshire 2nd XI during this season, before returning home for his breath-through 2015/16 season with the Stags.

Known as a hard-working, highly driven cricketer, Renwick is keen to make the game his profession. He wants to utilise his Passport to break into English County cricket in future.

In a view to generating further exposure, he has recently signed with Greater Manchester Cricket League powerhouse Bamford Fieldhouse for their Premiership campaign..
