Banstead bag Bulls quick Cameron Gannon - 10/12/18

Cameron Gannon

Banstead have signed Queensland Bull's quick Cameron Gannon for their 2019 Surrey Championship campaign.

Gannon (29) is a seam bowling all-rounder with 62 domestic matches under his belt. The towering, neigh on 2-meter quick, has taken 118 wickets at 26.32 across the three formats with 3 five wicket hauls – exceptional figures for Australian State cricket.

Since his first-class debut for Queensland in October 2010, he has taken 61 wickets at 27.24 in 20 Sheffield Shield games. In recent years, he has developed his batting to the extend he’s now deemed a genuine all-rounder.

Gannon has produced notable scores at Futures League level and, following shoulder surgery over the winter, has returned this summer (2018/19) with a bang hitting scores of 71* (v Valley), 110* and 64 (v Ipswich / Logan) for Queensland Premier Grade side Northern Suburbs. To date, Gannon has scored 394 runs at 49.25 in first grade this summer.

At the point of writing, Gannon has played 71 matches for his current club and has scored 1,365 runs at 26.76 (2 x 100s, 4 x 50s) and taken 122 wickets at 18.45 (5 x 5w).

The Queensland quick resumed bowling at Grade level on the 20th October and impressed, taking figures of 5-14 (13) against Sunshine Coast and has since taken 16 wickets at 14.50 this summer.

He is eager to break back in the Bulls State squad this summer, before heading to the UK for another league stint in 2019, following his signing with Surrey Championship side Banstead.

He has previously played a short 5-game stint for Sonning (Thames Valley League) back in 2008. Unsurprisingly, he excelled, taking 13 wickets at 5.92 alongside 202 runs at 101.
