Bilton bag South African prospect - 04/11/16

Kiel van Vollenhoven-2

BILTON have signed talented South African leg-spin bowling prospect Kiel van Vollenhoven for their 2017 campaign.

Kiel van Vollenhoven (18) has been described by Pretoria Boys' High School’s (PBHS) Director of Cricket Dean Jefferson as “definitely one of the most talented school boy cricketers” that he’s come across.

In 90 first team matches for PBHS (which includes 21 T20 games), he took 150 wickets at 17.83 and, whilst he only batted 44 times, he scored 464 runs at 15.47.

Van Vollenhoven, who represented Northerns during the CSA Under-17s Cricket Week in December 2015, also starred for Wanderers in the Gauteng Premier League in 2015/16.

He finished inside the top five wicket takers with a tally of 24 wickets at 15.92, including two 5-wicket hauls and best bowling of 6-89.

Van Vollenhoven is now due to return abroad next year, following a brief stint with Balbriggan in 2016, to play for Bilton in the top tier of the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior League.
