Blackheath return for Wests' McRae - 12/01/15

Paul McRaeBLACKHEATH have re-signed promising leg-spin bowling all-rounder Paul McRae for their 2015 campaign.

McRae enjoyed a successful summer for the club scoring 396 runs at 26.40 and taking 27 wickets at 21.70 in the top flight of Surrey's I'Anson League. He struck 1,005 runs at 34.70 (2 x 100s) and took 47 wickets at 24.70 across all formats.

The talented all-rounder plays his club cricket for Western Suburbs, home club of Australian skipper Michael Clarke.

A genuine talent, McRae has played 81 matches across the grades for West’s in what is regarded as one of, if not the strongest club competition in the world – the Sydney Cricket Association.

He has taken 104 wickets at 23.75, with an impressive strike rate of a wicket every 33.21 balls over the course of his five seasons with the club.

Despite limited opportunities in the lower-order, McRae is also a more than useful batsman with 1,255 runs at 18.73 and its likely, he’ll develop into a genuine all-rounder in future.

Blackheath will be hoping McRae produces the goods once again in 2015 in their quest for the title, having finished in fourth position last year.
