Brislington bag Free State's Mogoera - 14/03/16

BRISLINGTON have signed talented Free State and Knights Colts batsman Paballo Mogoera for their WEPL campaign.

Mogoera (21) is a high-class prospect who, on the 10th March 2016, made a successful first-class debut for Free State against a strong Boland side. Opening the batting, Mogoera impressed, top-scoring with 62 from 104 balls on a difficult track, as Free State were bowled out for 222.

His selection was a reward for his exploits at not only club level (where, prior to his first-class debut, he was the third leading run-scorer (346 runs at 31.45) in the BCA Premier League for CUT), but also for Free State and Knights through the age-groups.

A hugely talented cricketer, Mogoera is the definition of a “genuine” all-rounder. He opens the batting, bowls off-spin and keeps wicket.

A graduate of HTS Louis Botha School in Bloemfontein, Mogoera starred for Free State through the age-groups. He played in two Khaya Majola (Coke) Weeks (2012, 2013), predominantly as an off-spinner who batted middle and even lower order.

Courtesy of his exploits during his second Coke Week, Mogoera was selected to play for the South African Schools Colts.

In 2014, he started to don the gloves and his batting took precedence. He has impressed in both departments, so much so he has been involved with the Knights Academy and Cubs over the past two years.

Alongside his representative commitments, Mogoera continues to play for CUT (Central University of Technology) alongside fellow CricX client Koot Pienaar in Bloemfontein’s Premier League Competition (BCA).

He has enjoyed huge success, particularly in November 2015 with scores of 110 and 56 from the opening slot, in his season tally of 346 runs at 31.45.

Given his success at club and representative level, Mogoera's first-class call-up was well deserved.

He is looking to progress in the game and cement his spot at the top of Free State's top order before spending a summer playing abroad for Brislington in Premier 2 of the West of England Premier League.
