BROOKSBOTTOM have signed promising Australian all-rounder Luke Benaquista for their 2016 GMCL campaign.

Benaquista (21) is a talented and genuine all-rounder playing for Melville Cricket Club in the Western Australian Cricket Association (WACA).

The left-arm seamer and top-order batsman has played over 100 matches for Meville, a club that in recent years has featured the likes of Adam Voges (Australia), James Vince (England), Benny Howell (Gloucs), Chris Tremlett (England), Tom Scollay (Middlesex), Steve Magoffin (Sussex) and Liam Dawson (Hants).

He has progressed through the juniors through to the senior ranks and, over the past two seasons has cemented his spot in the strong second grade side.

In 2014/15 he took 24 wickets at 22.88 across the grades, to include 10 wickets at 25.50 in second grade.

This summer his batting has come to the fore, striking 340 runs at 21.25 including his maiden second grade fifty, alongside 18 wickets at 18.50.

Benaquista has scored two grade centuries (in third and fourth grades) in a Melville tally over 1,300 runs. He has over 100 wickets across all levels, with an impressive average of 19.59.

As a junior, he won the WACA U15 bowling averages award and was subsequent selected in the Emerging Warriors squad for the 2009/10 season.

The talented all-rounder is now looking to make is way in the senior ranks and is knocking on first grade inclusion.

He has recently signed to play abroad in 2016 to continue his development. The Melville young gun will play for Greater Manchester Cricket League club Brooksbottom and will be keen to impress in what will be his maiden stint abroad.
