BURGESS HILL have swooped to sign experienced South African all-rounder Zain Patel for their Sussex League campaign.

Patel (30) is a high-class leg-spin bowling all-rounder who is the current vice-captain of Topham Cricket Club, who play Premier League cricket in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Courtesy of his club exploits, Patel was rewarded with provincial selection over a two-year period (2010-11), playing 2 first-class and 1 List-A matches for KZN.

He has since plied his trade for Topham with success and has been one of the more consistent performers at Premier level over the past half-decade.

Patel has also enjoyed three successful seasons in England playing for West of England Premier League side Winscombe.

In the Somerset Division, Patel has scored 1,264 league runs at 30.10, including a highest score of 150 in 2012 en-route to a season tally of 413 runs at 37.55.

He excelled with the ball taking 94 wickets at 16.78, including a WEPL "Player of the Year" winning 2011 season courtesy of his 52 wickets at 11.48 (plus 437 runs at 27.31).

After four years away from Northern shores, the talented leg-spin bowling all-rounder has agreed to return and will turn out for Burgess Hill in Division 3 of the Sussex Premier Cricket League.
