Camberley seize the Day - 13/02/15

Jimmy DaySURREY CHAMPIONSHIP club Camberley have signed Sydney Grade star Jimmy Day for their Division 1 campaign this summer.

Day snapped up the opportunity to play for the West-Surrey based club, given the fact he lives and works locally at Bearwood College in Wokingham.

“I feel honoured to be representing Camberley CC this season. It is well regarded as a highly competitive club, but, more importantly a club with a holistic approach to all levels of cricket”

“The club has done an enormous amount of work during the off season to strengthen the team and improve training facilities. I can't wait to don the Camberley hat and start the season!”.

The all-rounder, who was runner-up in both Sydney Grade Cricket’s “Champion Player” and University of New South Wales “Player of the Year” awards in 2012/13 will join Camberley’s pre-season nets in what is a big year at Upper Verran Road.

Commenting on Day’s signing, Camberley CC Cricket Chairman, Paul Abraham said:

“I am delighted that we have signed Jimmy Day for the 2015 season. He has a tremendous record in Grade cricket in Australia and has equally performed very well during his seasons over in England. Jimmy is a proven top order batter and front line seam bowler. There is a nice balance to our squad for 2015 and Jimmy’s experience will help our young team progress. Jimmy is now working locally full time and we hope that this is the start of a long term association with Camberley CC.”

With Jimmy on board, Camberley look set to push promotion back into the Premier this summer.
