Carlton sign record-breaking South African - 17/12/15

Mario Olivier

CARLTON have signed former first-class record-breaker Mario Olivier for their 2016 CSL Eastern Premier Division 2016 campaign.

Olivier (33) spent 7 years on the South Africa domestic circuit from 2005 and 2012. The undoubted highlight of his illustrious 174 match, 252 wickets’ career would be his headline-grabbing 10 wicket haul.

Playing for the Warriors Franchise, Olivier recorded the third best first-class bowling figures in South African history against the Eagles with 10 wickets for 65 runs.

During 2005-09, he was a stand-out bowler for the Warriors with 80 wickets at 26.46 at first-class level and earned selection for the South African Emerging Players squad.

Olivier also starred for other sides, most notably amateur provincial side Northerns taking 26 wickets at 17.23 in List-A cricket, in a career that saw the quick take 76 wickets at 21.98.

Olivier will now bring his experience to Cricket Scotland League side Carlton for the 2016 season.
