Carlton clamber for Queensland's McCloy - 27/01/15

Ryan McCloyCARLTON have secured in-demand Queensland Under-19 star Ryan McCloy for the forthcoming summer.

McCloy has been one of the CricX stables "most wanted" signings, but it is Carlton who have lured the Queensland prospect for their CSL Eastern Premier Division campaign in 2015.

The 18-year-old pace bowling all-rounder burst onto the Queensland Premier Grade scene this summer. His exploits for the Gold Coast Dolphins culminated with Queensland inclusion for the recent Cricket Australia National Under-19 Championships. McCloy excelled, taking 8 wickets at 14.50 including best bowling figures of 4-10 from 8.1 overs against Victoria.

McCloy hails from Queensland’s Far North Coast, where he played for local club Murwillumbah as a junior. He moved to rival club Pottsville to play A Grade cricket in the LJ Hooker League where he spent a couple of seasons before his progression into Grade cricket this summer.

Starting in the 4th Grade, he produced figures of 7.5-3-4-12 on debut before swiftly moving up to 2nd Grade where he played four matches taking 3-31, 2-38, 4-26 and 2-43 (11 wickets at 12.55) in addition to a fifty (67) in his final outing.

Of note, his 4 wicket haul against Ipswich / Logan (4-26) included a double-hatrick.

His all-round performances culminated with a first-grade debut against the Sunshine Coast in December 2014, followed by figures of 1-31 (7) in his maiden spell in the top flight against South Brisbane.

McCloy is hoping to make a big impression in the Scottish top flight this forthcoming summer.
