Bartestree & Lugwardine sign Sydney batsman - 17/03/16

Ben Chaplin

BARTESTREE & LUGWARDINE sign accomplished Sydney Grade batsman Ben Chaplin for their Worcestershire League campaign.

Chaplin (27) boasts a proven record in Sydney Grade Cricket. He has plied his trade in NSW’s Premier Grade Competition for more than a decade for Randwick Petersham, University of NSW and most recently North Sydney (2009/10 – 2015/16).

Due to work commitments, he has not completed a full season’s grade cricket since his “Player of the Year” summer in 2012/13 (520 runs at 37.14 and 24 wickets at 24.04).

Over the past four seasons, Chaplin has scored 1,340 runs at 35.20, albeit opportunities with the ball have been scarce.

He has scored centuries in each of his past four season (tons in the opening rounds of the last three). He has played predominantly second and third grade, with success (and centuries) at both levels.

Chaplin has also spent a prolific summer abroad, when churning out 1,217 runs for Hungerford (525 runs at 52.50 in the Hampshire County League) in 2007.

He will return to the UK in 2016 with Bartestree and Lugwardine in Division 3 of the Worcestershire Cricket League.
