Dolphins' Maharaj to Pro for Nelson - 31/10/14

Keshav Maharaj DOLPHINS left-arm spin bowling all-rounder Keshav Maharaj has signed with Lancashire League club Nelson for 2015.

Maharaj (24) is an integral member of the Dolphin's side in South Africa's Franchise cricket and is regarded as one of the strongest left-arm spinners in the country.

He boasts an impressive first-class record with 178 wickets at 25.91 including 7 five-wicket hauls alongside 1,321 runs at 22.38 with the bat, including 2 centuries.

It will be Maharaj's second stint as an overseas player abroad having previously enjoyed a successful summer with Sussex Premier League club Cuckfield in 2013 (45 wickets at 15.60).

He is considered a potential Protea in the making and has already represented the South African A side.

Maharaj is an in-form cricketer, with 35 wickets at 23.74 at first-class level last season. He opened his current 2014/15 season campaign with a bang too, taking figures of 3-24 and 5-70 for his KwaZulu-Natal side against Northerns a few weeks ago.
