Elvaston swoop for South African speedster - 08/01/15

David JacobsELVASTON have signed former South African first-class paceman David Jacobs ahead of the 2015 season.

Jacobs (25) has played 2 first-class and 1 List-A match for Easterns and has also excelled in East Sussex, with two prolific spells for Mayfield in 2013-14.

The right are speedster made his first-class and list-A debut's for Easterns at the start of the 2013/14 CSA domestic season.

The right arm quick was rewarded for his exploits in the North West Premier League and he didn't disappoint, taking figures of 2-68 and 3-61 in the 3-day and 1-day formats respectively.

He has spent the last two seasons playing for Mayfield in the East Sussex, then Sussex County League (following promotion) respective.

During his first stint abroad, he topped the League wicket charts (64 wickets at 12.64) whilst also scoring 467 runs at 35.92. He returned in the County League taking 34 wickets at 12.82 alongside a further 212 runs at 30.28.

Jacobs will be hoping to replicate his success for Elvaston in the strong Derbyshire League in 2015. The club, who finished 8 points shy of promotion last year, will be gunning for the flag this season with their South African star on board.
