EP spinner Akhona Kula signs for Grampound Road - 17/04/15

Akhona KulaGRAMPOUND ROAD have signed Eastern Province spinner Akhona Kula for their Cornwall League season.

Kula (25) is a left-arm spinner and capable lower-middle order batsman currently into his third year with the Eastern Province set-up in South Africa.

A player who comes highly recommended by his team-mates and EP head coach Christo Esau, Kula has played 19 matches across the three formats for EP since his first-class debut in March 2012.

An exciting talent – a big spinner of the ball, with beautiful flight and guile combined with tremendous control, Kula has performed well at provincial level to date.

He progressed through the EP age-group ranks, spent three years with the Academy and Emerging Players squad before making his provincial debut.

He has since represented the Chevrolet Warriors Under-23 Colts (2012-13) and continues to excel at Premier club level for United Brothers, where in 2014/15 he picked up 40 wickets, whilst also averaging 18.4 with a highest score of 94.

Kula is an incredibly hard-working, dedicated cricketer eager to progress in the game. He has recently signed to play his maiden season in the UK for Cornwall Premier League club Grampound Road.
