SA Outback signs for promoted Mayfield - 14/03/16

Josh Fidler

MAYFIELD have signed former South Australian Outbacks' quick Josh Fidler ahead of their Sussex County League campaign.

Josh Fidler (26) is a left-arm seamer playing for Mil Lel in the Mount Gambier and District Cricket Association in country South Australia.

He returned to his local club in 2015/16 following a stint in SACA Grade cricket for a West Torrens Club that can boast the likes of former internationals Peter George, Callum Ferguson and Redbacks batsman Kelvin Smith.

In 2013/14, Fidler represented the SA Outbacks, the South Australian Country Team. He impressed coach Paul Pasculli during the Australian Carnival with his ability to swing the ball late.

Last summer, he moved to West Torrens and was immediately selected in the top flight. He opened the bowling in A Grade in 4 of his 10 matches. Whilst he didn't pick up many wickets in first grade, he impressed in the B Grade with 9 wickets at 22.78 including best figures of 5-32 (17).

To compliment his bowling, Fidler is a capable batsman in the lower-order, as he proved in 2014/15 with a highest score of 38 in B Grade against Adelaide University.

Off the field, Fidler has coached at the Ferguson/George Academy at West Torrens where he has mentored emerging cricketers at the club.

He has shown himself to be a fine clubman and is now set to return to Northern shores in 2016, following a season in Scotland for Stoneywood-Dyce in the CSL Eastern Premier Division.

He will turn out for Mayfield, who won promotion last summer and will play the upcoming season in Division 3 of the Sussex County Cricket League. .
