Finedon snap up ACT Comets star - 27/10/14

Shane Devoy FINEDON DOLBEN have signed ACT Comets left-arm spin bowling sensation Shane Devoy for next season.

Devoy (25) is a left-arm spin bowling all-rounder who’s exploits for Tuggeranong Valley and the ACT Comets have hit the headlines in recent years.

He took 20 wickets at 18.65 in the Futures League for the Comets last season, including figures of 9-98 against the Redbacks.

He also weighed in with 671 runs at 31.95 and 58 wickets at 11.36 in the ACT Grade Competition which culminated with a whole host of awards, including the DB Robin Medal as the Grade’s best player.

Since the 2010/11 season, Devoy has taken 192 wickets at 13.82 across first-grade competition and cup matches, including 138 at 13.01 and seven 5-fors in the competition – five of which last season.

He topped the wicket-charts last season (58 wickets at 11.36) and finished sixth (55 wickets at 12.56) and second (44 wickets at 12.55) the previous two summers respectively.

With the bat, despite being shuffled up and down the order, he has scored 1,621 runs at 25.33 (1,176 runs at 28 in the competition) to include 1 century and 6 fifties.

Devoy has now moved to Sydney Grade club Eastern Suburbs for the 2014/15 season in an efforts to push for State selection. Thereafter, he will head to England and play for Finedon Dolben in the Northants Premier League.
