Free State Fritz Ferguslie bound - 29/01/15

Fritz de BeerFERGUSLIE have recruited Free State Under-19's wicket-keeper Fritz de Beer as their Overseas Amateur for 2015.

Fritz de Beer (18) is an outstanding prospect who reputable sources claim is a player destined for Franchise and potentially national honours.

A product of the prestigious Grey College in Bloemfontein, de Beer has been a stand-out for both the School and Free State age-groups in recent years.

A left-hand opening batsman wicket-keeper, de Beer was Free State’s leading run-scorer (and fourth overall) at the CSA Under-15 Week in 2011/12 with 215 runs at 35.83.

More recently, he has churned out a bagful of runs for Grey College in 2014, to include centuries against St Charles (133), Glenwood (115*) and fifties against Grey College 2s (88), Selbourne (84), KES (56), St Davids (52) and Voortrekker (51*).

He was also invited to the South African Under-19 regional camp and represented the Knights at the Coca-Cola Schools T20 National Finals in October. He also featured for Free State Under-19s during the Khaya Majola (Coke) Week in December 2014.

Alongside his school and provincial commitments, de Beer has also played for Central University of Technology (CUT) in Bloemfontein Cricket Association’s Super League.

Sporting success also runs in the family, with father (also Fritz) winning Craven Week with the Blue Bulls rugby team back in 1996.

It is though, time for the younger Fritz to shine and going by his recent exploits, he certainly has a big future in the game of cricket.

With his ongoing development in mind, the talented South African is set to join professional Keith Dabengwa at Ferguslie for their Western Union CSL Premier Division campaign this summer.
