COAL ASTON have signed promising Kiwi batsman Tom Griffin for their 2016 campaign.

Griffin (21), a batsman from New Zealand's deep south, has made a successful transition into senior club cricket for North East Valley in recent years.

In the Dunedin Cricket Association Senior Men’s Competition over the last two years he has averaged 17.58 (2013/14) and 22.18 (2014/15) for NEVCC.

Last summer’s aggregate (377) ranked him 4th on the competition’s run charts.

At representative level, Griffin starred at the Under-18 (226 runs at 20.54) and Under-19 (336 runs at 33.60) National Tournaments, then opened the batting for Otago at the National Provincial A Competition (2013/14).

Griffin will play for Coal Aston in the top flight of the South Yorkshire Cricket League when he spends his debut season in the UK next summer.
