ATTENBOROUGH have signed talented South African batsman Byron Haycock for their South Notts League campaign.

Haycock (23) topped the Derbyshire County League Division 2 run charts last summer for West Hallam White Rose, scoring 689 runs at 86.13 amongst 1,216 runs at 93.54 across 30 matches.

Last season followed a summer in Hampshire for Southern Premier League club Andover where he struck 487 runs at 44.27 in Division 1.

It was his 2013 season that put Haycock in the limelight, when he struck five centuries en-route to a record-breaking 1,045 runs averaging 95. His exploits helped his Waterlooville side to promotion in County League Division One.

Back home, Haycock has represented the Warriors Cubs side along with the SWD Emerging Squad and, since leaving school, has played Premier 1st XI cricket for George CC and Van der Stel CC in Stellenbosch's Boland Premier League.

This summer Haycock will return to the UK to play for Attenborough in the top tier of the South Notts League.
