Impressive Istead heads to Hadleigh - 12/02/16

HADLEIGH have signed exciting kiwi talent Luke Istead for their 2016 campaign in the Two Counties Cricket Championship.

Istead (18) is currently involved with New Zealand's Developing Future Aces Squad and plays his club cricket in the Auckland Premier Men’s Grade Competition for the star-studded Papatoetoe club. 

He made his Premier debut in 2012/13 and the following season impressed in the Two-Day competition striking two half-centuries amongst 273 runs at 45.50.

In 2014/15 the trend continued with another 581 runs at 36.31 alongside 26 wickets at 22.92 across all formats, including 532 at 38 and 23 wickets at 21.22 in Two-Day cricket with best performances of 132 and 5-34.

Courtesy of his Premier club exploits, Istead has spent the past two seasons in the Auckland age-group set-up, playing at the National Under-17 and Under-19 tournaments.

For the Under-17s, he picked up 8 wickets at 18.87, then averaged 27.33 with the bat for the 19s in the recently concluded (Jan 2016) national tournament.

Istead will make his UK debut for Essex side Hadleigh in Division 1 of the Two Counties Cricket Championship.
