JACQUES VILJOEN is set to join compatriot Christiaan Jonker for Monton's season in the Pennine League this summer.

Viljoen (20) is a leg-spin bowling all-rounder who sits third on the MVP chart courtesy of his brilliant first half of the 2015/16 season for Police CC in the Northerns Premier League.

He currently tops the wicket tally with 24 poles at 14.67 and is only 30 runs from the top of the run charts with 373 runs at 46.63, including a brilliant 154.

The South African, who is pushing first-class selection for Northerns, has previously enjoyed a stellar UK season back in 2014.

Playing for Northchurch's 2nd XI in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, he broke various league records, churning out the most runs in a single season (1,060), striking the highest league score (184) and hitting the most boundaries in a single season – 206 fours and 37 sixes.

Viljoen also broke numerous Northchurch records in 2014 including most 2nd XI wickets (31 at 21.25), most runs across all formats (1,252), highest strike-rate (123) and most boundaries – 230 fours and 42 sixes. He also finished third on the wicket charts (33 at 22.03).

Due to his recently exploits, Monton and Weaste have snapped up the Northerns prospect as amateur to join recently announced professional Christiaan Jonker.
