GREAT WITCHINGHAM have re-signed Aussie ace and former Redbacks' all-rounder Brenton McDonald.

McDonald (31) is an Australian first grade bowling all-rounder who was recruited by South Australian coach Darren Berry for the Redbacks in the Ryobi Cup in 2013/14.

His selection was based on his success in Premier Cricket where he helped Melbourne to a premiership with 568 runs at an average of 43.69, and an equal-league best 54 wickets with his leg-spin, at an average of 15.98.

McDonald boasts an enviable record in Premier Cricket – 3,354 runs at 29.68 plus 262 wickets at 22.95, and his stats continue to rise after several prolific seasons.

Due to his involvement with the Redbacks, he also played club cricket in the South Australian Grade Competition for Port Adelaide, where again he excelled scoring 476 runs at 39.67 and taking 37 wickets at 20.89.

McDonald then returned to his beloved Melbourne Cricket Club for the 2014/15 Victorian Premier League season and took another 38 wickets at 19.47 alongside 201 runs at 20.07.

He has also played 7 seasons in UK league cricket, most recently for Great Witchingham in the East Anglian Premier League, where, over 5 matches in 2015, he scored 165 runs at 33 and took 18 wickets at 12.67.

The previous season, he enjoyed a full stint for Great Witchingham, finishing as the EAPL's second leading wicket taker with 56 poles at 15.46 alongside 252 runs at 28 with the bat.

Courtesy of his previous exploits for the club, McDonald will return to the UK this summer for Great Witchingham in the EAPL's top flight.
