Canterbury prospect heading to Cornwall - 01/02/16

Taylor Irie

PAUL sign promising bowling all-rounder Taylor Irie for their Cornwall Cricket League campaign this summer.

Irie (18) is a prospect of the Canterbury youth system in New Zealand and has represented the State at Under-9, 15 and 17 level, including a National Tournament for the latter in January 2014.

At representative level in recent years he has developed into a genuine all-rounder – topping St Bede’s 1st XI run charts in 2015. He was subsequently included in the Governor Generals Youth XI to play against the Willow’s XI last year.

Whilst still at school, Irie has also featured in several Premier Men’s matches in the Christchurch Metro Competition (Canterbury’s top flight club competition) for Sydenham and Riccarton.

Alongside his outdoor exploits, Irie is a talented Indoor cricketer who has featured for both Canterbury and New Zealand through the age-groups and, most recently, was vice-captain of the Canterbury Under-20s who won the National Tournament in 2015.

He is set to join the Cornwall Division Two outfit for their promotion push in 2016.
