Pontblyddyn pen Newcastle quick Bradley Aldous - 02/02/15

Brad AldousPONTBLYDDYN have signed Newcastle seamer Bradley Aldous for their 2015 North Wales Cricket League campaign.

 Aldous (22) is a tall opening bowler playing first-grade for West’s in the Newcastle and District Cricket Association. A former New South Wales “All Schools”, “Combined Catholic Colleges” and “Emerging Blues” squad member, Aldous has become a stand-out performer in the NDCA competition, since his stunning debut season back in 2012/13.

The right-arm seamer took 40 wickets at 11.70 across all formats for the club to include 21 wickets at 7.76 to win the NDCA 2nd Grade Bowling Average award. He took 12 wickets at 18.25 in first-grade and was also West’s Under-21 “Player of the Year” courtesy of 7 wickets at 8.

Last season, Aldous continued to excel, taking 28 wickets at 18.14 in first-grade including two 5-wicket hauls. His best bowling figures (7-30) earned him the Carlton Mid Regional Player of the Round award which is presented to the player judged by Country Cricket NSW to have produced the most impressive performance across all of regional NSW.

At the point in which Aldous won this award, he was first-grades leading wicket taker (21 wickets at 12.24) and his exploits culminated with selection for the Newcastle Representative side that competed in the NSW County Championships. He didn’t disappoint opening the senior attack taking 6 wickets at 16.67 as Newcastle were crowned champions.

Aldous continues to shine in the current season and at the point of writing he has 19 wickets at 22.89.

He will join the Welsh club in their quest for the ECB Premier League title, having finished third last season behind Menai Bridge and Connah's Quay.
