Potterne re-sign prolific pair - 18/09/14

Ed Young POTTERNE Cricket Club are delighted an announce the re-signing of prolific all-rounder's Ed Young and Sahan Wijeratne.

Sri Lankan professional "Wije" will return for his third season at The Grove having amassed 1,191 runs at 44.11 and taken 44 wickets at 17.75 for the club.

The former Sri Lankan A batsman/spinner has been a key compenent of Potterne's success during his tenure to include a match winning 101 against Lechlande during the final match of last season to help Potterne to promotion to Premier 2 of the West of England Premier League.

This season, the club finished just outside promotion territory in third on 250 points, narrowly behind Clevedon (261) and champions Illminster (262).

Former Oxford MCCU, Unicorns and Gloucestershire spinner/bat Ed Young has also re-signed for Potterne after a successful maiden season for the club (582 runs at 44.76 and 12 wickets at 36.08).

Young also represented Wiltshire during their successful Championship campaign. His performances helped them to the final (262 runs at 23.81 and 20 wickets at 32.70) but, despite an 8-wicket haul, including 6-72 in the first innings, Wiltshire were narrowly beaten by Staffordshire in the Unicorns Championship final by 28-runs.
