Rawtenstall are delighted to announce the signing of Jovaun van Wyngaardt as Professional for the 2019 season.

Van Wyngaardt (25) is an exciting pace bowling all-rounder playing for the North West Dragons in South African domestic cricket.

The all-rounder has impressed in first-class cricket since his debut in December 2016, picking up 31 wickets at 27.09 and scoring 317 runs at 22.64 at the point of writing.

However, these numbers are on the rise – 11 wickets at 45.90 during his debut season in 2016/17 preceded a barnstorming 2017/18 season taking 12 wickets at 17.91. At present, he’s already taken 8 wickets at 14.50 in the current 2018/19 season.

The star all-rounder headed to England last summer and, despite an injury that hampered the start of his summer he impressed, taking 41 wickets at 15.44 alongside scoring 358 runs at 23.87 for Blackpool in the strong Northern ECB Premier League.

Van Wyngaardt will return to Northern shores in 2019, having recently signed with Lancashire League club Rawtenstall.

Chairman Vinny Hanson has the following to say about the signing:

"We have signed Jovaun van Wyngaardt as professional for the 2019 Season. He was professional at Blackpool last year when they won the Northern Premier League".

“We are delighted to secure the services of Jouvan, a proven all-round performer both in South Africa and the UK. We look forward to him showing his skills on the field and equally important off the field with his coaching".

"Jouvan comes highly recommended to us and last year lead Blackpool to the Northern Premier League Championship! Welcome to Rawtenstall, Jovaun".

"I would like to thank Steven Hirst and the CricX team for the professional service they have provided getting this deal over the line.”
