SHIPLEY HALL sign talented wicket-keeper batsman Jaco van Greunen for their 2016 Derbyshire Cricket League campaign.

Van Greunen (22) is playing for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) where he currently averages 30 in 2015/16, having averaged 27.14 last summer for George in the Sedgars Premier League in South Africa’s South West Districts.

Van Greunen moved to NMMU in search of higher honours and is currently playing alongside SWD provincial players Lyndon Volkwyn, Hanno Kotze and fellow client Jacques Budricks.

The former Oudtshoorn High School graduate has represented SWD through the age-groups. He is currently involved with the SWD Academy and is pushing for first-class honours in future.

Not only is van Greunen an accomplished outdoor player, but he’s starred in the indoor version of the game. He has been named “best cricketer of the year” in 2011, 2012 and 2015 in SWD Action Cricket.

The keeper/batsman will now join Shipley Hill in the Division 3 of the Derbyshire Cricket League.
