Silk secures Sussex move - 10/02/16

CUCKFIELD sign exciting batting talent Jordan Silk for their 2016 season in Sussex Premier League's top tier.

Silk (23) is a stand-out performer for Tasmania Tigers and Sydney Sixers across the three formats and he became the youngest player to hit a century on his Sydney first-grade debut.

His debut was against Queensland in March 2013 where he hit 127 against Victoria in just his second Sheffield Shield outing, then backed it up a week later with an innings of 108 in the 2012/13 final as the Tigers secured the title.

After just three first-class matches and 347 runs at 57.83, the Sydney-born opener had gone from unknown Tigers batsman to being selected for the Australian A tour of England.

He started the following season with another two hundreds and two half-centuries and, last summer, he churned out a further 503 runs at 27.94 including four half-centuries.

Silk’s name went viral in early 2014 when he took an incredible diving catch playing for Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League, which was described by Sir Vivian Richards as “one of the best catches that I’ve ever seen”.

He will now make his second move to the UK this summer as he joins Cuckfield in the top flight of the Sussex Premier Cricket League.
