Solway slays Sutherland for 177 in Sydney Grade - 11/10/14

Daniel Solway CRICX star Daniel Solway struck a brilliant 177 for Bankstown on Saturday against Sutherland in the Sydney Grade Competition.

Solway's innings scored from 300 balls in 343 minutes included 13 fours and 6 sixes helping guide his Bankstown side to a commanding position after 96 overs (400-7).

His monumental century followed his 136-ball 43 in the opening round of the season against a Northern District attack that featured Australian test spinner Nathan Lyon.

He had also returned from a productive league stint in England for Gerrards Cross where he finished fourth on the Home Counties Premier Cricket League (Division 1) run charts with 529 runs at 40.69.

Solway is, quite simply, a run-scoring machine who seems destined for State honours courtesy of his recent exploits in the Sydney Grade Competition.

In 2013/14 he struck 953 runs at 34.04 in the Sydney Grade Competition to include 379 runs at 23.69 (highest score of 154*) in first-grade and 372 runs at 53.14 to help Bankstown to the PG’s title.

The previous year Solway hit 620 runs at 36.50 including notable scores of 135 (Poidevin-Gray Shield) and 122* (Second Grade) to earn his first Grade debut in February 2012.

Solway is quite the prospect, who is hoping to continue his run scoring exploits for Bankstown and push for NSW Futures League inclusion. He is thereafter seeking a return abroad in 2015 and clearly, given his recent success home and abroad, he would be a fantastic acquisition for any club next summer.
