The Fell reel in Russo - 16/12/14

Chris RussoGATESHEAD FELL have signed former ACT Comets opening batsman Chris Russo for their 2015 NEPL season.

Russo (23) has played over 100 first grade games for Tuggeranong and more recently Queanbeyan in the ACT Grade Competition.

He has scored over 2,200 runs in the top flight in a first grade career dating back to 2008/09. His most prolific season came in 2010/11, where he was named in the “Team of the Year” courtesy of 548 runs at 49.82.

Hailing from a small country town before his move to Canberra as a 16-year-old, in addition to his club exploits, he has also enjoyed success at representative level.

He played three successful National Country Championships for the ACT Comets (2010/11, 11/12, 12/13), where he predominantly opened the batting alongside fellow CricX stable mate Matthew Gawthrop.

Russo currently plays for Queanbeyan, alongside Comets' stars Dean Solway, Mark Higgs, Sam Taylor and England Under-19s all-rounder Ed Barnard.

The opening bat has joined The Fell for the 2015 summer and hopes to impress in the strong North East Premier League.
