NORTH COUNTY have signed promising Australian batsman Jordan Willoughby for their Leinster League campaign.

Willoughby (21) is set to replace original overseas signing Dylan Blignaut who has unfortunately been ruled out through injury.

The talented British Passport holding Australian played his maiden season for Huonville Bulls in Tasmania's Huon Channel Cricket Association, following five seasons for New Town in the TCA (Tasmania's main Grade competition) this summer.

He enjoyed an excellent sesaon for Huonville Bulls in 2015/16 scoring 459 runs at 30.60 in the top flight, alongside 10 wickets at 25.30 with his useful off-breaks.

Prior to his move to the HCCA, he had played five seasons in the TCA for a New Town club that included State cricketers Scott Boland, Andrew Fekete, Mark Cosgrove and Pakistani star Shoaib Malik.

He made his TCA first grade debut in 2011/12 aged 16 and thereafter played 111 matches scoring 2,104 runs at 19.30, including two first-grade fifties.

Willoughby also enjoyed age-group representative experience – playing for the Tasmanian side during the National Under-17 Championships (2012/13).

The youngster has also ventured abroad the past two summers and plied his trade for Morecambe (2014 - Northern ECB Premier League) and Bovey Tracey (2015 - Devon Premier League).

He is eager to make a big impression in the strong Leinster League this summer.
