Stephan Marillier (31) is a former first-class batsman who comes from a strong cricketing background. His father Anthony and elder brother’s Eian and Doug all played first-class cricket, with the latter featuring in over 50 games for Zimbabwe in the early 2000’s.

The youngest of the Marillier brothers, Stephan opened the batting alongside Brendan Taylor for the Zimbabwe Under-15s in the 2000 World Cup but due to the political issues that hampered Zimbabwe cricket he was a late starter to the domestic game. He was plucked from English league cricket in 2009/10 to play first-class cricket for the Southern Rocks in Zimbabwe’s Logan Cup. He performed admirably hitting 294 runs at 26.72.

However, it was the start of the following season that Marillier hit his straps with scores of 55, 98, 4 and 148* in the opening matches of the 2010/11 first-class season. His early season form culminated with Zimbabwe XI selection against Ireland, followed by 3 first-class matches for Zimbabwe A against the touring New Zealand A side. Marillier hit 725 runs at 34.52 during the season and was subsequently awarded a contract by Mid West Rhino’s head coach Jason Gillespie for the 2011/12 season. Although he failed to produce the performances of the previous summer, he still scored 311 runs at 23.92 taking his first-class tally to 1,330 runs at 29.55 with his one century (148*) and 7 fifties.

Marillier has also excelled abroad over numerous seasons, namely with Warwickshire League sides Kenilworth Wardens (2002, 2005, 2010) and Offchurch-Lapworth (2006-10) along with Voorburg in Holland (2012), Wonga Park in Australia (2012/13, 2013/14) and East Anglian Premier League side Horsford (2013-15), where he struck season tally's of 818 runs at 48.11 (2013), 1,022 at 53.78 (2014) and 783 at 37.29 (2015) in league and cup cricket respectively. He also played a handful of County 2nd XI matches for Derbyshire in 2008, hitting a century (109) against Scotland A.

Holder of a British Passport, Marillier is a player who comes recommended by Yorkshire Coach Jason Gillespie and Blackcaps opening batsman Peter Fulton. He is open to consider opportunities around the globe and represents a high-class, proven performer for any club.
