David Jacobs (27) is a South African speedster who made his first-class and list-A debut's for Easterns at the start of the 2013/14 CSA domestic season. The right arm quick was rewarded for his exploits in the North West Premier League and he didn't disappoint, taking figures of 2-68 and 3-61 in the 3-day and 1-day formats respectively.

Jacobs has opened the bowling for the North West Academy and Potch Dorp, alongside first-class players Brett Pelser, Thandu Bula and Andries Huisamen in recent seasons. In 2011/12 for the latter, he took 31 wickets at 22.23 and was nominated for NPL “Bowler of the Tournament”, whilst also playing for the NPL “All Stars” team.

The Easterns seamer has also spent the last four seasons in England (2013-16), enjoying prolific returns in the East Sussex League and Sussex County League (following promotion) for Mayfield, followed by a strong season in Division 1 of the Derbyshire County League for Elvaston in 2015 and last summer in the Liverpool League for Northop Hall.

During his first stint abroad, he topped the League wicket charts (64 wickets at 12.64) whilst also scoring 467 runs at 35.92. He returned in the County League taking 34 wickets at 12.82 alongside a further 212 runs at 30.28. In 2015, playing in the much higher standard of the Derbyshire League, he finished 6th on the league wicket-charts (3rd in Division 1) with 58 wickets at 15.55. He enjoyed a brilliant final few month's of the season taking 26 wickets, including hauls of 5-74, 5-49 and 6-40. Jacobs was also a useful contributor with the bat scoring 315 runs at 17.50.

Last summer, Jacobs wasn't quite so prolific, but still took 35 wickets at 22.71. He also trialled with Kent towards the back-end of the season. Now Liverpool-based, Jacobs is undertaking his residency period to become a "local" player under ECB regulations. He aspires to break into County cricket in due course, but until then, he will be seeking league clubs over the next few years.

Given his success over the past four summers, the talented South African represents an outstanding recruit for any club in Lancashire for the 2017 season.
