Craig Stewart (30) is a leg-spinner boasting a long and illustrious first grade career in Perth’s South Metropolitan Cricket Association. He has played in the SMCA top tier for Phoenix Cricket Club since the 2007/08 season.

During this period, Stewart has taken 256 wickets at 18 including 9 five wicket hauls. He is the sixth leading wicket-taker in SMCA first grade history. Like a fine wine, Stewart is getting better with age. In 2014/15 he won the SMCA bowling aggregate award (42 wickets at 15.71) and was his club’s “cricketer of the year”. The trend continued with the leg-spinning SMCA legend taking 33 wickets at 15 to finish fourth on the wicket charts during the 2016/17 season.

Not only has Stewart impressed with the ball, but he is a strong fielder and has skippered the Phoenix side for the past four seasons. He decided to further his cricketing career with a maiden stint to the UK and he massively performed for Broseley with both ball and bat. He has spun 44 victims at 15.39 and with the bat has chipped in with some valuable runs as well (216 at 18).

He is now eager to spend another season abroad, showcasing his skills in UK league cricket in 2018. He is a player that comes highly recommended and will no doubt be a fantastic acquisition for any club next summer.
