Danny O’Shea (29) is a highly accomplished and decorated left-arm spin bowling all-rounder playing for East Box Hill in Melbourne's Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association (Ray McIntosh Shield). The Irish qualified tweaker joined the club in 2017/18, following three stints with local club Deepdene Bears in Melbourne’s Eastern Cricket Association (Dunstan Shield) and six seasons playing Victorian Premier Cricket for Northcote (2007/08-2010/11) and Kingston Hawthorn (2012/13-13/14).

During his time in district cricket, O'Shea took 135 wickets at 24.76, predominantly in first grade (3 x 5w, BB: 5-6). At his peak, O’Shea took 30 wickets at 17.83 in his final season for Northcote (2010/11), then backed-up with 30 wickets at 19.23 for the Hawks first grade in 2011/12.

The former VIC Under-19 spinner has since been an integral performer for Deepdene Bears and East Box Hill. On his return to his home club in 2014/15, he helped them to the ECA Premiership and, during his three season stint captured 99 wickets at 13.22 (37 wickets at 11.70 and 37 wickets at 9.22 in seasons 2014/15 and 2015/16 respectively). He was also a key contributor with the bat hitting 600 runs at 17.65 with 5 fifties.

Over the past two seasons, he has continued to excel in the Box Hill Report League, particularly during his most recent 2018/19 season taking 52 wickets at 14.73 to include career best figures of 9-44 alongside 344 runs at 19.11.

O’Shea has also enjoyed success abroad, playing in Northern Ireland for Carrickfergus in 2010 (346 runs at 26.62 and 27 wickets at 21.48) before three outstanding stints in the Surrey Championship for Spencer (658 runs at 19.94 and 135 wickets at 14.95). He was, without doubt, one of the best overseas players in the Championship, taking 50, 40 and 45 wickets in each of his 3 seasons respectively.

A proven performer, O’Shea returned to the Northern shores once again in 2017, turning in another good performance for the strong Malahide CC. He spun out 24 wickets at 17.67 and with the bat he chipped in with some useful performances (382 at 27.29).

The talented dual Passport holder has now returned to Surrey for another stint in the Championship in 2019. He is hoping to help his new club, Horsley and Send, to promotion in Division 5. Should he reproduce his form that he showed for Spencer between 2011 and 2013, the club stand a great chance.
