Ishwar Chaudhary (30) is a genuine quick enjoying an outstanding Ranji Trophy campaign this summer. Playing for Sikkim, the right-arm seamer has taken 27 wickets at 16.59 (at the point of writing) and sits second on the Ranji wicket charts. His first-class tally has pushed beyond a hundred, which includes a handful of five wicket hauls - 2 in his last two matches - 5-70 (v Nagaland - amongst match figures of 9-135) and 6-78 (v Bihar).

A tall, powerful quick, Chaudhary has forged a big reputation in domestic cricket, across all formats. The former India Under-19 player, who featured alongside the likes of Virat Kohli, Ravi Jadeja and Piyush Chawla, has been on the domestic circuit since the 2006/07 season.

Such was his promise, the opening bowler was sent to Australia by the BCCI in September 2007 to play for the Australia Centre of Excellence. The following year, he was picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the 2008 and 2009 Indian Premier League editions. He went on to play 9 seasons for Gujarat (2008/09-2017/19) before his move to Sikkum this summer. During this period, he featured for the West Zone (2010/11, 2011/12, 2016/17) and India Green (2011/12), so was on the national radar.

Chaudhary’s red ball format this summer has been exceptional, backing up his white ball success in recent years. The quick boasts outstanding numbers in the latter with 47 wickets at 30.02 and 22 wickets at 19.86 in 34 List A and 18 T20s respectively.

The in-form Chaudhary is keen to dominate the current Ranji season, before embarking on his maiden UK league stint in 2019. Having never played in the UK, he is eager to showcase his skills next summer and is a player that comes highly recommended.
