Jean Bredenkamp (25) is an absolute run machine playing for the North West Dragons in South African domestic cricket. He has been a prolific run scorer at every level to date – from age-group cricket, where he skippered Boland Under-19s, represented South Africa Schools and made the Under-19 World Cup squad, to senior level, where he has excelled for Boland, Namibia and most recently the Dragons.

He is one of the only batsmen in South African cricket to average 50 plus in List A (875 runs at 51.47 at the point of writing) and has first-class and T20 averages of 26.50 and 33.33 respectively. Bredenkamp has regularly been amongst the leading run-scorers in every tournament played over the years. From Coke Week in 2011/12 (219 runs at 43.80), to National Club Champ success in 2016/17 (193 runs at 64.33) and 2017/18 (287 runs at 71.75).

In List A cricket, he has finished 6th (366 runs at 73.20) and 12th (262 runs at 131) on the 2016/17 and 2017/18 run charts, respectively. In red ball cricket, his numbers are on the raise, following seasons of 434 runs at 28.93 (2014/15), 406 runs at 33.83 (2015/16) and 239 runs at 47.80 (2017/18).

He has scored 3 domestic centuries to date – his best (164*) coming against Boland whilst playing for Namibia in October 2017. In January 2018, he represented Namibia (courtesy of his father being Namibian-born) in the ICC World Cricket League Division Two Tournament.

He then headed to Norway and was amongst the leading run-scorers in the Norwegian Premier League in 2018, following an excellent maiden season abroad (playing for HV and CV Quick in Holland) the previous summer (467 runs at 35.92 and 21 wickets at 19.38).

An outstanding cricketer – Bredenkamp is now seeking a return abroad, whether than be to Holland, or the UK / Ireland. Whilst known for his batting, he is a skilful brisk medium pacer and, in club cricket, is deemed a genuine all-rounder. A high-class performer, keen and accredited coach, Bredenkamp represents an outstanding acquisition for any club in 2019.
