Abhay Negi (26) is a genuine seam bowling all-rounder playing all three formats for Meghalaya in Indian domestic cricket. A skilful opening bowler and hard-hitting middle-order batsman, Negi has recently completed his first-class game requirement to play UK league cricket as a professional in 2019.

Recommended by fellow CricX client and Ranji Trophy run machine Punit Bisht, Negi has been a key performer for Meghalaya this summer in both List A and first-class cricket. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he took 14 wickets at 20.92 – half of these in a single match when routing Arunachal Pradesh for 61. Negi took 7 of the first 9 wickets to fall en-route to figures of 7-16 (6) to include 2 bowled, 2 LBW and 3 caught behind the stumps.

In Ranji Trophy cricket, he has produced best bowling performances of 4-39 (once again, against Arunachal) and 3-34 (v Manipur). Whilst he hasn’t scored the volume of runs he’s capable of, he maintains a spot at 7-8 and has produced several stars with twenties against Puducherry (29), Nagaland (24) and Manipur (29) on the bounce, then a career-best 38 against Bihar. However, he is a genuine all-rounder, as he’s shown in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 and Tripura State Cricket League tournaments over the years.

The talented Meghalaya star is now seeking a UK club for the 2019 season. He is not only a strong cricketer, but someone who’s well versed with coaching and has been involved with both academies and strength and conditioning camps in recent seasons. Negi is someone we strongly recommend as a professional likely to excel in UK league cricket this year.
