Charles Coventry (27) made a headline-grabbing return to international cricket in August 2009, equalling the record for the highest individual ODI score by blasting an unbeaten 194 against Bangladesh. Coventry who returned from a three-year absence from the international stage had not previously scored a hundred for Zimbabwe produced a blistering 156-ball display which included 16 fours and 7 sixes. He has now played 32 ODIs for Zimbabwe scoring 766 runs at 27.35 in addition to 2 Test matches averaging 22. Having represented Zimbabwe through the age-groups, toured New Zealand with the Under-19 World Cup Side and performing for Zimbabwe A against major countries, he was selected for Zimbabwe in July 2003 after scoring 108 vs Pakistan A. The youngest first-class player at 15 years 303 days, he is also an accomplished back-up wicket-keeper and has been known to throw-up some part-time leg-spin. In 2002, he scored 314 runs at 44.85 in the Under-19 cricket world cup in New Zealand. He was the 5th leading run-scorer of the tournament (ahead of players including Graeme Smith, Tatenda Taibu, Hashim Amla, Jesse Ryder, Dwayne Bravo and Salman Butt).  He has 2 seasons UK league experience in 2004, playing for Whickham in the Northumberland and Tyneside Senior Cricket League and in 2006 for Portsmouth United Services in the Southern Electric league. During this season, the Zimbabwean test player who with his tremendous batting skills won the league batting award . He was so far ahead of the rest of the pack that he received the trophy after the penultimate match of the season. Two of his many moments throughout the season were putting the ball through the University gymnasium window and despatching Steve Green of Easton & M for five successive sixes. A level 2 coaching certificate holder, Coventry is looking for a playing contract in the UK in 2011.
