Following a successful maiden stint last summer, Jesse Tashkoff will return to Newcastle for their 2022 North East Premier League campaign.

The former NZ U19 skip

Tashkoff is an exciting spin bowling all-rounder plying his trade in New Zealand’s capital, Wellington.

Despite his tender age, Tashkoff has enjoyed a glittering career to date. He captained a strong New Zealand U19 side to the semi-finals of the 2020 World Cup, narrowly going down to eventual winners Bangladesh.

A talented all-rounder

During the 2019/20 summer, Tashkoff was the sides leading wicket-taker, bagging 23 wickets at 24.95 over 17 matches, with his left-arm spin.

With the bat, his highlight was guiding his side to victory with an unbeaten 66* against Bangladesh in September 2019. During the summer, he scored just under 300 runs at 21.21 in his 15 innings.

Following his successful World Cup campaign, Tashkoff was picked up by Wellington on a Rookie Contract and impressed in the National Provincial A tournament.

Alongside his rookie commitments, Tashkoff plays for his childhood club, Hutt District, alongside the likes of Jimmy Neesham (Blackcaps), Iain McPeake, Ben Sears, and Rachin Ravindra (Firebirds).

Newcastle return in 2022

Tashkoff set sail for the UK for his maiden league stint in 2021, where he enjoyed a successful stint for Newcastle Cricket Club in the North East Premier League.

Given his success (627 runs at 29.86 and 50 wickets at 16.48), the club was swift to re-sign their young kiwi star for the 2022 season.
