After a successful 2021 season, Pudsey Congs have re-signed their Sri Lankan batter Pramud Hettiwate for their 2022 Bradford League campaign.
An exciting prospect
Pramud Hettiwatte is an exciting batter playing for Nugegoda Sports Welfare Club in Sri Lanka’s (Tier B) Premier Tournament.
He moved to Nugegoda in 2019/20, following stints for Tier A clubs Badureliya (2018/19) and Bloomfield Cricket and Athletic Club (2017/18).
The hard-hitting batter impressed last summer (2019/20) striking 461 runs at 38.41. Whilst known for his batting, he was a key performer with the ball at schoolboy and provincial level, bowling his left-arm spin.
From prodigy to pro
Hettiwatte skippered Nalanda College (Colombo) and was involved with the Sri Lankan spin squad, evidencing his all-round ability. He starred at provincial Under-19 level, particularly with the ball, taking 89 wickets at 18.04 across the three formats. He has played in the Premier Under-23 tournament for several years and, has excelled with bat and ball.
He was rewarded with a List A debut for Nondescripts in 2015/16, before moving to Badureliya Sports Club for his first-class debut the following season. He joined Bloomfield in 2017/18, before a return to Bedureliya, then his move to Nugegoda Sports in 2019/20.
Pudsey return following a successful UK summer in 2021
The talented Sri Lankan headed to the UK last summer to ply his trade in the Bradford League for Pudsey Congs. He enjoyed plenty of success, predominantly with the bat hitting 876 runs at 39.82. Given his success, the club was swift to re-sign Hettiwatte for their 2022 campaign.
