Spencer is over the moon to confirm the long-awaited signing of Wellington Firebirds quick Michael Snedden for their 2022 Surrey Championship campaign.

Cricket is the blood…

Snedden is a tall right-arm opening bowler and explosive lower-order batter, currently playing in Wellington, New Zealand.

Snedden comes from a rich cricketing background. His great grandfather and grandfather both played first-class cricketer, and his father went one better, playing 118 matches for New Zealand – the majority sharing the new ball with the great Sir Richard Hadlee.

From the deep South, to a contract in the Capital

Snedden started his career in Dunedin, where he was part of the Otago Volts wider squad for numerous years before moving up to Auckland.

He made his professional List A debut for the Auckland Aces during their 2018/19 Ford Trophy campaign taking 3-61.

The following season, Snedden shifted his talents to Wellington where he was awarded his First-Class debut for the Wellington Firebirds during the 2019/20 Plunket Shield.

Following this, he was awarded his first professional contract, in a Firebirds squad including the likes of Jimmy Neesham, Devon Conway, Tom Blundell, Hamish Bennett, and Finn Allen.

Snedden has been part of three championship-winning campaigns in his two years with the Firebirds, playing his role in winning the prestigious Plunket Shield in his debut season, as well as back-to-back Super Smash (T20) championships – in which he made his T20 debut last season.

At Premier club level, Snedden has played for Karori since his shift to the nation’s capital. He has been a resounding success, with 18 wickets at 22.28 (2019/20), and 26 wickets at 15.96 (2020/21) over the past two campaigns.

Snedden set for Spencer stint

Snedden is a great team man, who is now set to embark on his maiden UK stint having signed with Spencer for their 2022 Surrey Championship campaign.
