Alex Garlick is an experienced fast-bowling all-rounder from Port Adelaide Cricket Club in South Australia’s Premier Cricket competition.

He has been a key component of PACC's first-grade side for several years and in 2019/20, bagged 39 wickets at 25.36 alongside 261 runs at 20.08 in all cricket.

An incredibly versatile player, whilst known for his seam bowling, he is more than useful with the bat. His sound technique led to his promotion to open the batting in the opening round of the two-day competition in 2019/20.

The talented seamer has previously represented Sussex 2nd XI and South Australia’s 2nd XI Future League side, while also representing South Australia in the National Country Championships in 2017.

In 2012, Garlick was asked to appear on TV during the Tea Break of the Australian Test Series as part of a competition to find the fastest non-contracted bowler in the nation. Garlick clocked the speed gun at an impressive 137km/h.

Soon after Garlick’s success with South Australia, he was struck down by illness and was absent from the game for a number of seasons. Since making a full recovery, he slotted straight back into 1st Grade and now plays a key role in opening the bowling and batting throughout the order.

Holder of a British Passport, the speedy quick is seeking a UK return after two prolific stints in England. Playing for Great Witchingham (2008) in the strong East Anglian Premier League, Garlick averaged 20.30 with the ball and 27.90 with the bat. Returning three years later, he starred for Stirlands CC (2011) as the competition's second-leading wicket-taker, taking 54 wickets at 19.76, while also compiling a healthy 466 runs at 29.13.

Garlick is a qualified High School Teacher with Level 2 Coaching Qualifications and has been appointed Port Adelaide’s U13s, U14s & U17s coach for this season. Along with Garlick’s cricket ability, he is an excellent communicator and team man, making the South Australian an outstanding acquisition for any club in 2022.

As a former State and County 2nd XI player, Garlick is targeting an ECB Premier League club next summer and ideally one with strong County links for 2nd XI opportunities.
