Alex Ridley is an opening swing bowler and hard-hitting middle-lower order batsman.
He has represented the Wellington Firebirds in three Plunket Shield (first-class), and Ford Trophy (List A) matches apiece during his successful 2017/18 campaign.
Ridley was a stand-out performer for Wellington A / U23s for several years, winning the latter’s “Player of the Year” twice. During the 2019/20 National Provincial 'A' Tournament, in addition to his bowling performances, he also evidenced his ability with the bat, scoring a high of 83* en route to a tournament average of 37.
Prior to this, he was Wellington’s U17 and U19 “Player of the Year”. He was also MVP at Premier club level, which ultimately culminated with Firebirds' selection.
Until recently, Ridley had played Premier cricket in Wellington since the age of 14, representing Onslow Cricket Club. Following COVID, he has moved to Auckland where he plays for Grafton United Premier Men’s.
In addition to his on-field skills, Ridley has been heavily involved with junior coaching, both in school and club level. He is an accredited NZC Level 1 coach, and has extensive experience in coaching, both home and abroad, when playing in the Irish Leinster League previously.
Ridley is seeking an opportunity to ply his trade in the Netherlands, or perhaps a return to Ireland. A player (and bloke) who comes highly recommended for any club next summer.
