Ali Usman is an outstanding left-arm spinner from Punjab in Pakistan. Over the past few years, Usman has excelled both at home in domestic, and abroad in UK league cricket.
In 2019, he was an absolute stand-out in the strong North Staffordshire and South Cheshire Cricket League. Playing for Wood Lane, he picked up 66 wickets with an average of 8.39. He bagged a wicket every 20 balls and enjoyed the best bowling figures of 8-1 (8.2 overs).
No slouch with the bat, Usman also chalked up 520 runs at 32.50, including a match-winning Cup century (117) against Sandyford.
In the form of his life, returned to play the latter parts of the 2021 UK season for Cornwall League powerhouse Penzance with success, helping them to Premier League and Cup glory (23 wickets at 9.65). Given his success, Penzance was swift to re-sign the talented tweaker for the 2022 season. Unsurprisingly, Usman excelled, bagging 51 wickets at 12.02 across all cricket, including 32 wickets at 9.53 in the ECB Premier League, alongside 314 runs at 20.93.
At home, after starring for Southern Punjab 2nd XI in 2020/21 (74 wickets at 16.24), he stepped up to the top tier for the 2021/22 season and topped the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy wicket charts. Usman bagged 43 wickets at 27.93 with 2 five-wicket bags and a 10-wicket match haul. He also notched up 179 runs at 22.37 with the bat.
In 23 first-class matches, Usman now boasts impressive figures of 77 wickets at 32.41 alongside 662 runs at 24.51 with the bat, including a tally of 206 runs at 41.60 in 2022/23.
The spin bowling all-rounder has starred both at home and abroad in recent years and is now eager to secure yet another UK stint for the 2023 season.
