Angus Sidey is an exciting prospect coming through the Canterbury ranks in New Zealand.

A sharp opening bowler, and hard-hitting batter in the middle order, Sidley has represented the State through the age groups and is now a stand-out for Canterbury Country (Hawke Cup) and Canterbury A (National Provincial A).

Known as an aggressive out-swing bowler, Sidley enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2020. He was an integral member of Christchurch Boys' High School's victorious Gillette Cup campaign, with Sidley being awarded the national tournament's MVP. He was also named Canterbury Under-19's "Bowler of the Year" paving the way for 'A' selection. He has since won the national Hawke Cup with Canterbury Country and post-COVID has been pushing for full Canterbury honours.

Whilst he has earned many plaudits as a bowler, Sidley has developed his batting to the point whereby he can be deemed a genuine all-rounder. At Premier club level (playing for Cheviot Cricket Club), he scored 276 runs at 39.43 during their 2021/22 one-day campaign. In 2022/23, he averaged 151 in Hawke Cup cricket courtesy of two undefeated fifties for Canterbury Country, and also featured for the New Zealand Development Squad.

In a view toward his development, the talented kiwi is seeking an opportunity abroad in 2024 and is a player we highly recommend.
