Awais Zia is a prolific batter who enjoyed a taste of international cricket, playing 5 T20I’s for Pakistan between 2012 and 2014, but hasn’t featured since. Nevertheless, the left-hander has continued to churn domestic runs aplenty, across the three formats, since.
An explosive batter, who often opens the innings, Zia boasts a tremendous domestic record. Since his first-class debut in February 2007, he has racked up over 10,000 runs with 15 centuries and a highest score of 232. He has batting averages in the high-30s in both first-class and List A cricket and continues to star in T20 cricket.
Zia has also enjoyed plenty of success in UK league cricket, to include stints with Burnham (2014), Newcastle and Hartshill (2016), Aston Hall (2018), and Little Lever (2019). During these four seasons, he has belted 10 centuries amongst 3,226 runs at 48.88 – a tally that includes 357 fours and 85 sixes.
Whilst known predominantly for his run feats in Pakistan, Zia is a more than useful off-spinner, who has started to bowl more in domestic cricket in recent years, as he has done during his UK stints. Across his four seasons, Zia has picked up 122 wickets at 23.03 with best figures of 7-33.
The talented Pakistani all-rounder is now eager to return for a fifth stint in 2022. Now a UKCC level 2 coach, he is happy to get fully involved with coaching during the 2022 season.
