Bilal Ahmad is an exciting batting prospect coming through the Afghanistan ranks.

A prolific junior, Ahmad represented Afghanistan in both Youth Test and ODI matches, including the ICC Under-19 World Cup in the West Indies (2022).

He excelled in the ACC Asia Cup and broke into the professional circuit in 2019 making his first-class and List A debuts for Kandahar, and Hindukush Strikers, respectively.

Unfortunately, COVID struck, but he returned to represent Afghanistan during their 4th placed finish at the Under-19 World Cup (with a high of 33 from 34 balls against England in one of his two games).

In recent years, he has become a dominant performer for both Boost Region (Mirwais Nika Regional 3-Day Tournament), and Hindukush Strikers (Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament).

During the latest Mirwai Nika Tournament (August 2023), he skippered Boost Region and was one of the leading run-scorers, notching up 2 centuries amongst 337 runs at 56.16. Thereafter, (Aug-Sept 2023), he would produce several high-class innings in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament (FC), with his composed 94 (159 balls) against Maiwand Champions, being his best.

In the recent Ghazi Amanullah Khan Regional One Day Tournament, Ahmad continued to dominate to include his maiden List A century, a brilliant 101-ball 104* to guide Boost to victory over Amo Region (Nov 2023).

It’s fair to say, the talented youngster has quite the future. Not only a run machine, but a useful off-spin bowler to boot. Ahamd is now set to showcase his skills abroad having signed with Morton Colliery for their 2024 Derbyshire County Cricket League campaign.
