Bishworjit Konthoujam is an exceptional right-arm seamer playing for Manipur in domestic cricket.

He made his debut in 2018 and excelled immediately, bagging 30 wickets at 22.10 during the 2018/19 Ranji Trophy campaign. He topped Manipur’s wicket charts and finished as the 10th highest wicket-taker in Ranji Trophy cricket.

The following season the trend continued as he broke the national record for best List A figures claiming 7-54 including a hattrick against Nagaland during a Vijay Hazare Trophy fixture. He would go on to finish as the highest wicket-taker in the one-day competition bagging 16 wickets at 22.68.

Following COVID, Konthoujam returned to domestic cricket with a bang taking 15 wickets at 21 to top the Ranji Trophy (Plate Group) wicket charts, and 7th overall.

Last season (2022/23), unsurprisingly the Manipur quick continued to excel bagging 23 wickets at 30.56 taking his first-class tally towards 100 wickets, combined with over 50 in white ball cricket.

Courtesy of his domestic exploits, Konthoujam was rewarded with Northeast Zone inclusion in the Duldeep Trophy (2021/22) where he picked up 2 wickets on debut against West Zone.

It’s fair to say, the Indian seamer is a serious operator, and he is now eager to showcase his undoubted skills in UK club cricket next summer.
