Cameron Shekleton is a hugely exciting prospect who starred for KwaZulu-Natal Inland during the 2019/20 summer scoring 443 runs at 44.30, including his maiden first-class hundred (149).

Holder of a Portuguese Passport, the gifted wicket-keeper batter excelled through the Gauteng age-groups, before breaking into senior cricket in 2019. However, he only featured in 4 Gauteng matches (2 first-class; 2 List A) in 2018/19, prompting a move to KZN-Inland for the 2019/20 season.

The run machine made an immediate impression for Inland, hitting scores of 64 and 47 on debut against Boland (16 January 2020). He narrowly missed out on his maiden first-class century later that month, hitting 93 against Northerns. However, on the 12th March, he produced a stunning century, hitting 149 from the opening slot from 303 balls.

Shekleton looks set for a very bright future and has signed with Inland for the upcoming 2021/22 season.

The keeper/batter originally made his first-class debut for Gauteng in February 2019, following yet another dominant National age-group week. The run machine, who excelled at the CSA Under-13 (137 runs at 45.66) and Under-15 (223 runs at 74.33) Weeks in December 2013 and December 2015, respectively, churned runs-for-fun at the Under-19 Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week in December 2018, to include a brilliant century (137) in the final at Newlands against Western Province.

The former St Stithians College star was swiftly selected to make his senior debut for Gauteng in February 2019, taking 7 dismissals with the gloves against Western Province, before adding another 4 and a first-innings 49 against Boland in his second first-class match. However, Shekleton only featured in 2 further matches for Gauteng, hence his recent move to Inland to generate more game time.

The talented dual Passport holder is looking to forge a career in the game and is keen to embark on a full UK season in 2022, following a brief 5-game stint for Fives and Heronians back in 2015.

Given his caliber, it's fair to say Shekleton will be a player in high demand for the 2022 season.
